Artist's Whisk of Misery
Artist's Whisk of Misery

This is a whisk, basically a handle with a bunch of wire loops on it. In the hands of an artist trying to make breakfast, though, it's a potent metaphor for confusion and suffering.

Whisk of Misery

When Used

  • In combat, against most monsters:

You fling the whisk at your opponent, hitting him for 10-20 damage.

You apply the Whisk of Misery to the Potatoes of Security. Misery breaks down Security, softening its firmness, revealing the fragility of its illusion of comfort. You're left with a tragicomic metaphor and a delicious dish of mashed potatoes.

You whisk the Batter Mix of Hope with the Whisk of Misery. Misery cannot destroy Hope, but it alters it indelibly, producing a delicious dish of waffles and a potent artistic metaphor.

You try to scramble the Meat of Happiness with the Whisk of Misery, but the bonds of Happiness are strong enough to withstand the onslaught, and indeed make Misery look ineffectual by comparison. You're displeased with the way the metaphor turned out, and with the way the meal turned out, too.

You viciously scramble the Eggs of Confidence with the Whisk of Misery, making a dish of scrambled eggs that is all the more tragic for the potential it once had.

You flail impotently at the Bread of Wonder with the Whisk of Misery, but every mark the Whisk leaves on the Bread quickly disappears as the Bread's resiliency overcomes every attempt to disfigure it. It's not quite the metaphor you're looking for, and it's barely edible.

Notes

  • You automatically win the fight if you use it against any opponent from A Grocery Bag, and cause that opponent to stop appearing for the rest of the day.
