corrosive algae You're fighting some corrosive algae

You remember encountering a mass of writhing strands of corrosive algae. Strands, right here in the place where you lived!

You remember how their viscous coating burned your tender flesh. You can almost feel it now. Actually, you can feel it now. For that matter, you can see it, and if you're some kind of weirdo, you could probably even taste it if you wanted to.

Hit Message(s):

It flicks you in the <skull> with a strand. The flicking doesn't hurt, but the burning does. Oof! Eek!

A corrosive strand slides from your <shins> to your <kidney>, leaving a trail of pain and suffering. Ow! Ugh!

One of the strands coils around your <calf>, and eats into it with corrosive toxic oozings. Jeez, algae! Save some room for dessert! Ouch! Oof!

Critical Hit Message:

Several of the strands join together into a long chain, and wrap you up like a green mummy. A mummy whose flesh is on fire, instead of dried and preserved. Ugh! Ow!

Miss Message(s):

It tries to flick you in the eye with a corrosive strand, but you've seen this flick before and didn't particularly care for it.

One of the strands coils around your <foot>, but you yank it free before the secretions begin. Secretions from the algae, not from your <ankle>.

A corrosive strand slides from your <throat> to your <ear>, but you quickly wipe your <groin> on your <solar plexus> before the corrosive secretions can do any damage.

Fumble Message:

A bunch of the strands join together into a long chain, but you were lying when you told Stevie you'd never break it, so you do. (FUMBLE!)

Notes

  • This monster counts as a group (of size six). It takes manifold damage from area-of-effect skills such as Wave of Sauce.

References

  • It is possible that the Stevie referred to in the fumble message is Stevie Nicks, sometime singer with the band Fleetwood Mac who recorded a song called "The Chain".
  • "Strand in the place where you live" is a reference to the R.E.M. song "Stand".
