- The trophy name is a reference to the objective in, and slogans for, the Pokémon game series.
- The image file name, "ocd_i_choose_you.gif", is a reference to the catchphrase of Ash Ketchum from the popular television series of the Pokémon franchise, as well as the obsessive-compulsive traits the franchise creates.
- "Showed us them" is a reference to the Internet meme "My Pokemans, let me show you them."
