Talk:Doppelshifter

My reference edit isn't showing up on the page...What's up with that?--Teenr0cker 03:21, 1 Oct 2005 (MDT)

  • Hmm it's really odd, even after I purge the old cached page and it takes me to the correct updated page, if I go somewhere else and come back, It'll show the outdated version again. That's not supposed to happen, purge should force the wiki to recreate a new cahed page. --JRSiebz 03:51, 1 Oct 2005 (MDT)

From the 2005-10-03 Jick & Skully Show:

Jick: How does the Doppleshifter work in the Cake Shaped Arena, the doppleshift is just good at everything. Which makes it a little harder to use, but he's good at everything.
...
Jick: Is the doppleshifter named after the Pokemon ditto? No, I know nothing about ditto. I actually bought one for GBA, to learn about it and not emulate it, but it's the most boring game.
  • Since the pokemon reference was proven to be incorrect, why is it still on the main page? Shouldn't it be gone by now? --J12601 13:47, 20 October 2006 (CDT)

Similarity to forum image

Technically, the similarity to the KoL forum sticky image has absolutely nothing to do with KoL, since said image comes directly from the SubSilver theme included with all phpBB 2.x installations. --Quietust 13:58, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

  • I agree, it is a weak reference. I say one more vote before removal of reference and deletion of image.--Dehstil (t|c) 20:33, 1 August 2006 (CDT)
  • Seconded. Nothing uniquely KoL-ish about it. Same way the meat blob in the Haunted Pantry could be called a reference to a sticky. --Alpaca (T/C) 21:14, 1 August 2006 (CDT)

Extra Adventures

also noted while i am messing around with my shifter he will not change into these familars

54. Comma Chameleon
40. Doppelshifter
37. Spooky Gravy Fairy
61. Ninja Snowflake

(new familars appear to be appearing now, but the above are still missing/no comferm.)

here is a data set off of what i am seeing from my familar. the way i have familars divided is just for statistical fun later. This data is far more complete then what i was recording earlier, being as i was only watching the wild hare closely before now. it will be updated daily for a run.

On wild hare #25 it had no action, now thinking back to the few runs i did with my rabbit.. i dont remember it ever doing nothing. there was no familar image, to rabbit text above or below the spoils of battle text. the only thing said was the shifter changed back to its non-combat form. I still think this thing is bugged. I have used for 3,092 kills and still no watch winding from the rabbit. there was a long period of time where i just recorded the rabbit actions but well i lost of file, it was somwhere around 40 rabbits, no watch turns but it did something every time. I got 2 or 3 adventures from the rift in the same amount of time as the lost rabbit records. I sent in feed back about the wild hare doing nothing.

i guess what i am saying is am i cursed by the RNG or is the thing really broken. Any way my run at the NS is tomarrow so i will drop the shifter for a few runs. two full runs of shifter is prolly enough.

--LoA 12:33, 27 January 2007 (CST)

  • I've done several long runs with my March Hare. I've had multiple instances of him doing nothing at the end of a combat adventure, to the tune of once-ish every several days at 40 advs a day in Hoxy. So, it makes sense that the doppleshifter's version of the Hare would occasionally do nothing as well. --Squi 21:31, 27 January 2007 (CST)

I looked at the wild hare page and it appears that the rabbit only gives out adventures on its 15th(or 12th) appearance a day. the likely hood of getting 12+ rabbits in the same day before roll over is rather undoable, so i will try over the next few days to start off my day with the rabbit and to 14 adventurs with it, and then switch to the shifter and see if i can get it to give me an adventure. it sounds like my crappy luck my have had nothing to do with it after all. --LoA 02:14, 28 January 2007 (CST)

Yup, that worked ... well it wasnt a total loss they did at a bunch of missing familars while i was at it. I might play with the data some more, for example what are the odds of geting a gravy fairy like familars, or the odds at getting a teddy bear like familar. but i will no long update the data now that i got the rabbit all figured out, and here i thought it was my shifter that was busted. --LoA 00:42, 30 January 2007 (CST)

histogram each familiar with the corresponding number of appearances gets plotted as a xx in that column. (example the scary death orb has appeared twice so far, there for its the xx in the 02 column)

The histogram appears a little top heavy. that may have more to do with the familiars getting added on Jan 3rd. as my data set keeps growing it should balance out the differences in start date. I might do this agian in a few days just to see if it balances out any.

Does the Doppelshifter's Spirit Hobo form "use up" the drunkenness of the Hobo in one's terrarium when shifted? --Lxndr 07:55, 20 February 2007 (CST)

I heard that if you try to name your doppelshifter Ditto, it doesn't work. -Coogi Hat 8:25 PM 4/9/07

Familiars

I removed from the "will not change into" list all the familiars that were reported after the most recent update. We need information on whether or not it'll drop Goodfella Contracts or bottles of absinthe - and in the case of the Penguin, whether it will react properly to Contract that had been dropped. And if it does turn into any of the familiars still on the "no" list, I'd be obliged to see an update. --Lxndr 17:20, 5 September 2007 (CDT)

Will the Doppelshifter turn into the OAF or the Black Cat? --Lxndr 16:44, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

I can confirm that it will indeed drop Goodfella Contracts, and I can also confirm its ability to shift into the Black Cat, unfortunately. -Saccare 00:49, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Gluttonous Green Ghost

"If you give your Spirit Hobo booze and then use your Doppelshifter and it shifts into a hobo, it will attack and "use up" some of the Hobo's booze supply."

Has anyone tested to make sure this mechanic is similar/identical for when the Doppelshifter turns into a GGG?

Jack-in-the-Box

Does the doppelshifter increment the counter on the Jack-in-the-Box? --Raijinili 23:16, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

Rogue Program (actually other spleen familiars too)

History would indicate that the doppelshifter can give GG tokens when shifted into the RP, but it's not mentioned on the page. Can someone confirm this? Also: When it drops items, I assume it uses the usual 20%, 16%, etc. mechanic, but does the chance reduce for the doppelshifter to drop any item, or just the item it dropped?--Billybobfred 00:41, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

I didn't have Slimeling / Gluttonous Green Ghost / Spirit Hobo charged, and didn't see them use charges, but I expect they would. The Knob Goblin Organ Grinder never dropped a pie for me, but I expect it would if it came up enough since I got the grinding messages. I didn't see the Rock Lobster drop anything, but that's a low frequency drop. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 23:44, 6 December 2012 (CET)

Familiars 145 Onwards

"As of August 2011, will transform into at least familiar 144 but not familiars 145 onwards (see Familiars by number)." Hey, not a common contributor here but I was just checking out this page and this information is definitely outdated. I read it thinking I was sure my doppelshifter had transformed into things like a Dataspider before - then realised it's actually in the shape of a Pair of Stomping Boots (familiar 150) right now (I took a screenshot of the end of the "adventure"). Anyway, I just thought you guys should know about it. EDIT: It's also changed into a Li'l Xenomorph (#148) a bunch of times (I have a few Transporter transponders I couldn't have got from anywhere else. I haven't seen it ever transform into #151 onwards, though. But yeah, that's definitely wrong. D1git 02:52, 12 February 2012 (CET)
