Not Working?

My 30-lb Rock Lobster hit 16 damage with this on (not underwater), although the familiar's page says that it should be doing a minimum of 16 damage before the collar... did I do something wrong? --Deus Ex Machina 05:23, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

I think I've seen something similar with my Slimeling...perhaps the bonus damage only applies to 'real'attack familiars, those meant primarily to do damage, and not starfish types? Edir 19:04, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

  • I did some testing with a few familiars (Mosquito, Angry Goat, Autonomous Disco Ball) and didn't see any bonuses. Verdict: Broken. --TechSmurf 19:43, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
    • It's been a few months, but I tested it out against some Crates. My 26 pound Fuzzy Dice just rolled 11 and hit someone for 62 damage, not 52. My 26 pound Howling Balloon Monkey, which you would expect to hit for 6-13 damage, hit for 18. My 26 pound Rock Lobster, which should hit for 14-29, hit for 37, then 34, then 28, then 33. However, my 26 pound Imitation Crab hit for nothing but 10 (+10) and 10 (+10), four combats in a row. So it looks like it's been fixed, mostly. --Johnny Treehugger 17:09, 5 July 2011 (CEST)
      • My guess would be you tested it with the Imitation Crab while on land, where its damage is capped at 10. Which is an interesting observation, because that indicates even with the Guard turtle collar-bonus, a familiars damage can't exceed its damage-cap. --Yatsufusa 18:53, 5 July 2011 (CEST)
        • That's correct, all my tests were on land. Huh, I thought the crab's MINIMUM damage on land was 10. The Excel-style nested-parenthesis formula on the Crab page is great if you're actually trying to model something in Excel, but it does more harm than good in a medium like the Wiki where you're trying to explain things to people, in my opinion. --Johnny Treehugger 21:33, 5 July 2011 (CEST)
        • Followup: tried 22 pound Crab + Collar in the Sea, got damage values from 11 (+11) to 21 (+21), as expected. --Johnny Treehugger 21:48, 5 July 2011 (CEST)
