So has anyone seen it get to be more than 5 yet? And if so, what day of the month was it and what was the moon cycle at? --Lemon-claw 22:39, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

On the radio show (1/1/09)about 1:32:32 into it, Hotstuff says that "there is one day out the moon cycle that it'll give you more than 5". So I guess that changes some predictions/formulae --Lemon-claw 00:58, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Jick mentions on his radio show (12/18/08) about 36:12 into it, "know that the item drop of the new elf varies based on the moons." Hopefully that helps with figuring out the drop rates. --Lemon-claw 20:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

50 combats equipped to Astral Badger 50 combats equipped to Green Pixie No special attacks. Ill keep going for another 50 with my Pixie. --AleCross 05:53, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

While I'll have to listen to it again to be sure, Jick seemed to be suggesting on the Dec 18th radio show that the +weight is affected by the moons (like Blood of the Wereseal). We'll see tomorrow, I suppose :) - The Wrassedragon 06:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Well, he said the item is affected by the moons, he didn't say weight. Maybe when one or all of the moons are full, it turns your familiar into a were-reindeer.--Jef 16:38, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Spent about 50 combat turns with them equipped to my Dandy Lion, nothing. In fact, played every single turn since I got them equipped to my Dandy Lion, and I saw nothing. I'll keep trying, and if it does have something to do with the moons, we'll see. --Ephesos 08:58, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Since this is +5 on a 1 darkness day, this could end up being a really bad-ass piece of familiar equipment on most days. I eagerly await to see if it switches by +5 or +1 or something else with each point of darkness change. --Flargen 13:22, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Edit: Just checked, you're correct thanks. --Thagorn 16:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
    • It's actually at 1 darkness today. A white minimoon over a dark grimace segment cancels out that dark segment. --Flargen 16:15, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
      • Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all the were-effects operate better with more light, not less? --Val 17:25, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

--Call me crazy, but I'd assume that Jick was talking about the elven MOONshine when he mentioned an item affected by the moon.--Alabit 19:55, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

---I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. In fact now that you've said it, it all seems quite obvious. Jick only talked about a "new item" on the radio show. --Mud Man 20:45, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Formula

Yesterday it was +5 lbs. Today it's +4 lbs. Anyone have any suggestions?--Toffile 04:15, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Yes. Everyone assumes that moonlight is referring to Grimace. The hitpenguins drop items affected by the light of Grimace, the elves are in opposition to the penguins. It's looking like this item is affected by the light of RONALD. Consider that Ronald was full yesterday, and now has a sliver of dark. --Glitterboy 23:29, 19 December 2008 (EST)
    • Actually it could just as easilly be Grimae is 2 units and the minimooon is 1. There's not enough data to predict yet.--Toffile 04:37, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
      • It could be, but Ronald would be more in line with previous moonlight-varying equipment and would be a much less complicated formula. Wait and see, I guess. --Glitterboy 12:49, 20 December 2008 (EST)
  • That sounds like it makes sense, but what is the actual formula? Ronald had all 4 segments lit yesterday, and today it has 3. So perhaps we need to wait a few more days... though at the moment, my wild-ass guess is n+1 lbs of familiar, where n is the lit segments of Ronald. --Ephesos 04:39, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Looks more like +n lbs, where n is the total lit segments to me.--Chugsworth 05:07, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
      • I do believe that it's +n-1 lbs, where N is the total lit segments [minimoon appears to have no effect]. Would be interesting to see if it goes -1 on a completely dark day. --Val
        • Or it could be +(3 + floor(n/2)) lbs, where n is the number of lit segments on Ronald. --Zanelron 14:57, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

  • Added today's bonus to the chart. --Mud Man 06:24, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
  • And today's. --Mud Man 05:02, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
  • From that, it looks like its based on both moons, 1 pound per light.
  • I'll admit my guess of it being Ronald's light was a stab in the dark based on only the first/second days. It's looking like that's not right, so I'm removing it from the item page. --Glitterboy 16:52, 23 December 2008 (EST)
  • Current data suggests 1+ceil(N/2), where N is the total number of lit segments including the minimoon. --Quietust (t|c) 22:03, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
    • We'll be able to see the minimum on the 31st, thankfully. That's a double dark moon day with no minimoon. And the 1st has just 1 point of light. If everything fits by then I'd be willing to call that as the formula, and just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't do anything weird on the rest of the moon cycle. --Flargen 22:10, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Which is rather similar to the Jekyllin hide belt formula. It'd be the boost from the J-belt divided by 10 and rounded down. So the next week should be 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 2 with a minimum of 1 on the 31st. —Yendor 22:16, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
      • So far, so good. —Yendor 04:21, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
      • It's +1 lbs today (all dark moons), so it looks like 1+ceil(N/2) is confirmed. I'll post it on the article --EEpiccolo 13:06, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
