Talk:Stinky cheese sword

I removed the following note from the main page:

  • Adventuring with multiple stinky items equipped still only increases the 'stinky' counter by 1 per adventure.

Here's why: I sent 2 items to a spading multi: the sword and the eye. I went on 25 combat adventures, and the eye was at +10%. I equipped a third item, the wheel, and went on 17 more combat adventures, and the eye was at +20%.

It would appear that equipping multiple stinky items DOES increases the counter by 1 for EACH item equipped per adventure. What were the specific circumstances that lead to the opposite assessment?--Morgan Blair 03:38, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Jick said so here. --CG1:t,c,e 08:52, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
    • Actually, in retrospect, I'm not sure. Jick isn't specific as to whether the first "glitch" is intended behavior or the second one. --CG1:t,c,e 09:03, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I just tested with two cheese items equipped and got the expected 1 charge per adventure.--GoldS 04:49, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

I equipped a multi with a total of 6 stinky cheese items, the sword, wheel, and 3 eyes. I expected this to fully charge the items after 17 combats, but this did not happen until a full 25 combats (but it certainly didn't take a full 100). I then equipped a different multi with 3 eyes only, and began adventuring. Sure enough, only one charge was gained per encounter.

Summary, it would appear that you gain one charge per UNIQUE item type equipped.--Morgan Blair 17:24, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

And while talking about counters, as expected, this resets at ascension and at rollover. --Club (#66669) (Talk) 04:46, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Is it indeed one per adventure? I spent about a hundred adventures in fernswarthy's basement and my stinky item was not only slighty more then halfway charged. Is it possible that it charges 1 per combat?--Inspector Gadget 16:20, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

I equipped a diaper and an eye, and got into 5 combats with infernal seals. Before the combats, the diaper was at +1 adv/day and the eye was at +1% meat/items. At the end of 5 combats, the diaper was still at +1, but the eye was at +2%. It would seem that the stinky counter only increased by 5, even with 2 unique items equipped, not 10 as expected. (diaper: 100/10, eye 100/5) --Morzels 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I don't see how you're getting these results (only 1 charge per combat, regardless of number of items). I just started my day by lucreing with a single stinky cheese eye equipped, and gave my disembodied hand a stinky cheese sword. 40 adventures later, the eye is at 16%, the sword is at +27, and a stinky cheese diaper sitting in my inventory is at +8. Very clearly, I got +2 to "stinky power" for each adventure with two different stinky cheese items equipped! --Morgan Blair 07:12, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh, Morzels, I just reread your comment, and it clicked: 5 adventures. You spent 5 adventures, and came to a conclusion (that was wrong). Please note that at 5 combats with a diaper and and eye, +1 and +2% is exactly what I got, too. But I went further

Sorry about my inelegant tables…

If somebody else wants to say that "no" multiple items "don't" grant multiple charges, could you please post your data?--Morgan Blair 08:14, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

--I stand humbly corrected. --Morz 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Wow, "humbly"? That's more the I could probably manage (I fail at humility).

By the way, maybe someone with the gift of explaining things clearly (I do not have this gift) could attempt to make the distinction between adventuring with different stinky cheese items, and adventuring with multiples of the same stinky cheese item? (such as multiple eyes, dual-wielding swords or having a disembodied hand equipped with the same item you have in your mainhand) --Morgan Blair 20:58, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Can do! Its a bit clunky (perhaps the bit about free runaways could have its own subsection) but the new structure should eliminate any confusion among casual readers. -- GrinGrim 18:08, 22 January 2010

All of this testing appears to only be done with combat encounters. My own use of the eye in the basement reveals to me that only combat adventures count (it took 9 adventures to go from +8% to +9%, the 9th adventure also happened to be the 5th combat encounter).

Floor Encounter Eye
374  ? Eye reaches 8%
375 Blue pill 8%
376 Fight a waveform 8%
377 Fight a Stone golem 8%
378 Festering Powder 8%
379 Fight a Beast with XXXXX ears 8%
380 Take jacket 8%
381 Fight a Beer golem 8%
382 Muscle test 8%
383 Fight a grandfather 9%

  • Rather than extend my gigantic table, I continued wearing the eye on every adventure in the basement, and it improved again (to 10%) on floor 394 after the 5th combat encounter. The eye was still at 9% on floor 393. I'm sorry if I'm posting known info, but the page still lists the items as gaining power for each adventure spent, not each combat spent.
