Talk:Swarm of fire ants
From TheKolWiki
Uh, the Notes section on this page is confusingly written or outright wrong, unless the drop rules got changed very recently. I have both the ant sickle and the ant pick on one character; they dropped in different combats, and I can't remember if I had the pick on my familiar when I got the sickle. But the current notes imply that you can only have one ant farming item on your character at a time. Can this be clarified? --SDLynn 12:52, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Yes, I actually made a boo-boo on that. Two browser KOL is inconsistent. At any rate, I'll remove the thing, and alter anythin like it. *sorry for the confusion* --Argus 04:55, 3 July 2007 (CDT)

- The various ant implements are said to all count as one item. If that item drops, it's randomly determined which one of the implements it becomes. Thus, you'll never see more than one drop at the same time. If there's data to the contrary, please let us know! If not, is it possible this could effect the drop rate calculations? --Starwed 19:33, 26 July 2007 (CDT)
- I have had more than one tool drop during an adventure (with 25 lb gravy fairy), so I disagree with the single calculation. --rbandboy1 19:08, 05 October 2007 (MT)
- I also had 2 of the tools drop on one occasion. The reason why it seems like that only one of the tools can drop at a time is simple; take a look at the base drop rates based on the available statistics and then factor in that the roll for each item in regard to whether it drops is completely independent of the others. To put it another way, the chances of two of the tools dropping on the same encounter is (A x B) = C where A and B are drop rates for different tools. For two of the tools to drop on the same encounter requires a huge smile from the RNG; with the base drop rates so low the item drop bonus is irrelevant. --Nucleon 21:09, 5 October 2007 (CDT)
