I have nowhere near enough data to be conclusive, but after about a hundred attempts to pickpocket I have yet to be successful. Has anyone else noticed problems pickpocketing in the wine cellar?--Chagchag 11:16, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

Haunted Wine Cellar YES

      • When you adventure there, you get 'Last Adventure: The Haunted Wine Cellar', and 'Adventure Again (The Haunted Wine Cellar)', that's what I'm basing it on. It's like in The Hidden City, where the map says 'Unexplored Ruins (1)' or 'Ruins (1)' but you're actually adventuring in The Hidden City.--Tzom 19:34, 20 July 2007 (CDT)

Corner-dependent drops?

Is it true that each bottle only drops in two of the four corners? --Jonrock 03:20, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

  • Unlikely, since you lose the "subsnarfblat" when you click on "adventure again". Thet means that the game has no means of tracking in which corner you adventured, except when you click on the corner from directly from the area map.     • Ok, i take that back. With at least 30 adventures in each corner i got:

Upper left: Marsala, Merlot, Muscat Upper right: Merlot, Pinot Noir, Port Lower right: Muscat, Port, Zinfandel Lower left: Marsala, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel

I don't see how this could possibly be true. I thought I'd seen more than 3 kinds of wine before in each corner, and then I got a sommelier that dropped 5 different kinds of wine AND a cork in the same turn. I have a screenshot, but I don't have anywhere to host it. In any case, I'm not sure how to edit the article to be consistent, but I felt I should put this out there.--Chagchag 00:23, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

I can confirm what Chagchag is saying. If you don't use the corner link, you'll get monsters that can drop all six wines. I've gotten a sommelier drop everything except for Zinfandel.--Foggy 09:21, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

I also have seen all six wines drop from a single adventure. I was wearing a lot of +item drop gear, had a 40 lb. gravy fairy, and had peeled eyeballs. All adventures were done using the adventure again link. I am going to test if using the corner link results in the same thing happening.--Kjacobso 19:52, 10 July 2007 (CDT)

I have also seen all 6 wines drop, but only when using the direct link without a subsnarfblat parameter, as far as I can remember. My theory is that when you adventure with a subsnarfblat parameter, a flag is set with your subsnarfblat number. If you adventure somewhere else, that flag is cleared. Then, if you use the direct link without a subsnarfblat parameter, the flag is still null, and the monsters will drop all the types.

Here is what I have figured out so far. If you log in and use the link to a specific corner you only see three wines drop. This is also true if you use the adventure again link. If you log out and log back in and then use the adventure again link for the wine cellar you can get all six wines to drop per adventure. I also have a screen shot here ( 07:44, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

  • After 100 consecutive adventures, 25 in each corner, I've received no Muscat,but I've received Port in every corner. Adventures were with a full-weight Green Pixie and Mayflower bouquet, with Ermine Eyes, Peeled Eyeballs, all heart effects, and 2 toy trains.     • You say you did 25 turns in each corner...but did you do 1 turn top right, back to the wine cellar, 1 turn top right, back to the wine cellar, repeat 23 more times, then shift to the top left? I ask because the "Adventure again" links now all rotate through subsnarfblats 1-4. I noticed this while doing the wine bounty the other day and trying to farm ports at the same time. You will need to get to the corner of your choice via the wine cellar, which makes it a bit more bothersome to farm a certain corner. The game now moves you through all 4 unless you go to pains for it not to do so. --J12601 21:15, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

    • Today is the feast of boris. An encounter with a FoB monster (or a Dia de los Muertos one) results in the game losing track of what corner you were actually in, sending you to the mystical 5th corner where the monsters drop every bottle.   • I just got 5 bottles in adventure plus a cork. Had a fairy familiar(35lbs), fat leon's loot, Powers of Observatiogn, and de-leveled the hell out of the wine dropper monsters with a curdflinger. Moxie for no hit

I highly doubt the Moxie for no hit is over 200. I have a multi adventuring there with 172 Moxie, and the enemies are missing pretty often, and with the regular (non-fumble) messages. --Poochy 23:36, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Same opinion here. My multi with 173 buffed moxie don't even get hit by wine racks, and the other one hurts very little. - Jeek 09:53, 7 July 2007 (CDT)

The moxie for no hit is simply 7 above the monsters attack value, which in turn is normally the ML of the creature. So about 175 moxie (well, a bit over due to ML variation) for no-hit is most likely here. --Starwed 14:54, 21 July 2007 (CDT)

No hit / No Booze.

Just noted that battling in the wine cellar with my moxie at 180 odd i appear to be getting a drastically low drop rate on bottles.. okay my sample is only 20 advs but i've never had so few drops (mostly none or a single bottle) but when i dropped my moxie buffs i suddenly got a 3 bottles drop.. I totally agree.. it's just i've noted the experience on every run (for the last 4-5 runs or so) especially with regard the fruit drops in the Lab lvl1 and booze in Lab lvl3.. and now the wine racks. Its totally possible its RNG based.. just seems a lil too regular in my experience.--Nasher 03:20, 13 August 2007 (CDT)

No Pickpocket?

After adventuring here for at least 100+ turns, I have never had a successful pickpocket. Does this mean pickpocketing is impossible here? --Euphemism 09:25, 15 August 2007 (CDT)

New Monster?

Occasionally, when adventuring in the Wine Cellar, I've encountered a monster called "The Darkness", particularly when hitting the Last Adventure button. Is this a new monster? It's not in the Wiki, except in the NS's tower... --Sir Hobo 19:06, 22 November 2007 (CST)

New Layout / Drops

So... Jick fixed the "Adventure Again" bug (where pressing Adventure Again or Last Adventure would take you to the upper left corner, no matter where you started,) by giving each corner its own snarfblat, rather than each one being a subsnarfblat.

Now, the Adventure Again and Last Adventure links list the corners as "The Haunted Wine Cellar (direction)", where direction can be Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, or Southeast. The snarfblat numbers are 178, 179, 180, and 181, respectively. In the Spookyraven Manor Wine Cellar, each of the four corners are displayed as Wine Racks (1).

The question now is: Are the wine drop locations the same for everyone in each corner? Are they randomized per character, but stay the same throughout ascensions (like Summon names)? Or are they randomized per ascension, as they were previously? My drop locaitons this run:

  • Northwest: Merlot, Pinot Noir, Port
  • Northeast: Zinfandel, Muscat, Port
  • Southwest: Merlot, Marsala, Muscat
  • Southeast: Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Marsala

At first blush, it looks like the sets-of-3 at least stayed the same.--Terion 19:49, 17 June 2008 (CDT)

I did it a couple of days ago, and it looks like it's still randomised:
  • Northwest: Muscat, Port, ?
  • Northeast: Marsala, Muscat, ?

Interesting, I was using the Spooky Putty for my bounty when the following happened: [3] The only +Items I have at this time is Phat Loot. So it seems that the Spooky Putty does not remember which corner the Cellar monsters come from, very useful. --Urutsini 08:56, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

ML boost makes sommelier's less likely?

I'm sure that this is just RNG madness, but with an ML boost of 55 (plus Colonel Mustard's Lonely Spades Club Jacket?), I didn't get a single sommelier for about 20 straight adventures. I dropped Aria of Annoyance and my next adventure was a sommelier. Just wanted to note this in case anyone noticed something similar. --BozoTheScary 23:38, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Combat adventure not listed

I was in the middle of the Quest for the Holy MacGuffin and came to the Wine Cellar for the first time. I immediately went to the Northeast Wine Rack and my first adventure was a fight that was not listed on this page. At the time I didn't know what to expect from the Wine Racks and hadn't looked at this page to know that this adventure was not listed. Unfortunately I didn't pay much attention to the name or the combat messages. I think it looked similar to the skeletal sommelier, and the name was French-sounding but that's all I can really say about that. Two things are for sure though--first, when the battle started, I got the jump on him but did not auto-pickpocket, so it must have been a special adventure of some sort. Second, he dropped a corpsedriver when he was defeated. Sorry I can't offer more information. --Crash Man 19:47, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
