It's Kind of a Big Deal
You awake in your deserted campsite, briefly disoriented. You remember flashes of a crazy dream you were having, where you fought some big evil and then stepped into a gash and went beyond the stars. Visions of an endless celestial city cling to your synapses and won't let go. You feel cramped inside your own body; it's like the time you went back to your elementary school and all the desks seemed so small. And then they asked you to leave because you were 20 years old and passing notes in someone else's 4th grade class.
You see a little booth set up at the edge of the campground. It has a banner over it that reads "BOMBAY THE SAPPHIRE DJINN." In smaller letters across the bottom of the booth it says, "WISHES GRANTED."
Approach the Booth |
You approach the booth, and a purple man with a giant turban looks you up and down. "You're a short drink of water, aren't you?" he says, his lips not moving as he speaks. You know what he means. You were meant for bigger things--you were meant to be a bigger thing. You can feel it. "I wish I were big," you stammer, before you're even aware you meant to speak.
The Djinn's eyes twinkle. "Did you say you wished to be a pig? Is that you, Clancy?"
"No, no. Bee Eye Gee, BIG. BIG!!!" you say, almost shouting.
"WISH GRANTED," Bombay says, and vanishes in a puff of purple smoke.
"Well, that was a waste of ti--" you say, but the new deep timbre to your voice makes you pause. Your hands are big. Your feet are big. If what they say is true, you're gonna need big shoes and big gloves. You look way, way down at your feet, and finally you feel just the right size.
You also feel like dancing on a giant piano keyboard, but I'm sure that'll pass.
