Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Maxwell's Silver Hammer

This hammer is perfect for (bang! Bang!) bringing down on someone's head, and making sure that they are dead. If you're the type to spend late nights all alone with a test tube, you'll notice that the head of the hammer is magnetic. Thus, if you rotated it in a coil of wire, you'd make electricity! It's almost like magnetism and electricity are the same thing.

References

  • When a Pope dies, according to legend, he is gently struck on the head with a silver hammer to make sure he is dead.
  • The item's description refers to James Clerk Maxwell, who formulated the Maxwell equations which unified electric and magnetic forces into the broad field of electromagnetism.
  • The item is otherwise chock-full of Beatles references:
    • "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is the name of one of the group's songs.
      • The song is quoted in the first sentence of the description, and the second ("Joan was quizzical; Studied pataphysical / Science in the home / Late nights all alone with a test tube. / Oh, oh, oh, oh.").
      • A couple of the attack messages have their inspiration from the song as well, specifically the lyrics "Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer / Came down on her head / Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer / Made sure that she was dead" and "Rose and Valerie, screaming from the gallery / Say he must go free (Maxwell must go free) / The judge does not agree and he tells them / So, o, o, o."
    • The "insides are out and its outsides are in" attack message is a reference to "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey".
    • "Your Mother Should Know" is a song from the Magical Mystery Tour album.
    • "Ticket to Ride" is a song from the Help! album.
    • The attack message that starts with "You say you wanna cause contusions? Well, y'know..." is a play on the lyrics from "Revolution", which is on The White Album.
