I think that the "Stat gain" text in the Adventure template should be replaced by "Substat gain". The term "stat" has a specific meaning as defined on the stat page (Muscle/ Mysticality/ Moxie). This is not what is being gained after an adventure. What is gained is Substat (Strengthliness/ Beefiness/ Wizardliness/ Mysteriousness/ Smarm/ Roguishness). Comments? --Gymnosophist 11:23, 25 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Some adventures do give a particular amount of stat, and then subdivide it willy-nilly among the substats (with Muscle-class adventurers getting more Muscle substats, etc.).

Other adventures give a particular substat (e.g. Moxie), no matter what the adventurer's dominant substat is (e.g. Moxie or not Moxie).

Because of this, we probably should have some distinction in the template for total stat gain and whether the total gets divvied up or whether it gets devoted to a particular substat.

  • That's a good point, but I'm not sure that it means that we need to change the template to address it. Typically, something like that is shown as: "Stat gain: 4 (Muscle)" (like the A Vampire Slayer is You! in The Spooky Forest). For now, I'm just going to change the text to "Substat gain". But that doesn't mean that we can't also revisit this in the future. --Gymnosophist 17:44, 27 Aug 2005 (Central Daylight Time)

Adding the clear style

I propose to add the style clear: right to this template. This would prevent infoboxes from overlapping with the adventure descriptions. (See Treasury for an example). As far as I can tell, this wouldn't mess anything else up, and would improve the look of pages with long infoboxes. --Starwed 10:04, 4 February 2007 (CST)

  • The infobox would still flow over section headers (which we're planning to add), if only added to this template. We're better off putting it elsewhere, like appended {{CombatFrequency}} or in the case of Laboratory which you're already gone and done with {{clear}}.--Dehstil (t|c) 17:38, 4 February 2007 (CST)

Omitting Unnecessary Fields

I don't know enough (well, anything) about templates to do this on my own, but is there some way unnecessary fields could be left out? Like, for noncombat adventures that just drop an item, leaving out the meat and substat fields instead of having to put in none/0? It would make the template look a lot cleaner. --TechSmurf 11:54, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

Effect Field

With all the BM adventures, and the un-hydrated desert adventures, is it worth it to add an effect field to the adventure template?

Possibly something like,

to show...

Effect: slimed (10 adventures)

Conflicting Names & Links

I needed to change the name of Soul Food to Soul Food (adventure), because of the new Sauceror skill. However linking it as [[Soul Food (adventure)|Soul Food]] left ugly brackets and Soul Food (adventure)|Soul Food obviously doesn't work because of the pipe. Either I didn't see the solution in the template or it still needs to be made. My suggestion would be an optional link parameter for the cases the adventure name and the wiki page name differ. I would hate to simply link it as Soul Food (adventure) because that isn't its name in KoL.
Such a rename happened before with Cravin' for a Ravin', but that adventure wasn't linked by this template. --Yatsufusa (talk) 04:21, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Does using {{!}} work for Soul Food (adventure){{!}}Soul Food? --timrem (talk) 04:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
It does. Thank you Timrem, you are awesome! --Yatsufusa (talk) 04:32, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
